Alan Garner - District 5 Director

Alan Garner

Alan Garner is an Ingham County cash crop farmer. He is the District 5 Director representing Farm Bureau members in Clinton, Eaton, Genesee, Ingham and Shiawassee counties.

Garner is a graduate of Dansville Agricultural High School and Michigan State University, where he earned an ag tech certification in 1977. Upon graduation from MSU, Garner began farming on a 200-acre farm.

He has expanded his farming operation to 3,300 acres through rental agreements and real estate purchases. He produces corn, soybeans and wheat with approximately 90 percent of the soybean acreage dedicated to non-genetically modified food grade production for the Japanese marketplace.

Garner became a member of the Michigan Farm Bureau in 1977, which marked the start of his active involvement in the organization. Since then, he has served as a director of the Michigan Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Association Board, director of Farm Bureau Insurance, chair of the Michigan Farm Bureau Legislative Committee, member of the Capital and Finance Committee, member of the American Farm Bureau Federation Soybean Advisory Committee, and member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago Advisory Council. He has also served as the Michigan Soybean Board Association vice president.
