Brent Hotchkin - District 2 Director

Brent Hotchkin

A third-generation Jackson County farmer, Brent Hotchkin graduated from Concord High School. Prior to working on the family farm with his father, Max, and brother, Greg, Hotchkin was employed as a salesman for an animal health supply warehouse, truck driver and construction worker.

In 1990, he began working full time as the farm manager. The family operation consists of 1,400 acres of soybeans, corn, alfalfa, and wheat cash crops as well as 300 finished Holsteins each year.

Hotchkin joined Michigan Farm Bureau in 1990. He served as the Jackson County Farm Bureau president for five years and as an officer or member of various committees including the Local, State, and National Affairs Committee; Promotion & Education Committee; Community Action Group; and Membership Committee. He has also been involved in both the Washington and Lansing Legislative seminars for two years and the Ag in the Classroom program.

Because of his active involvement, Hotchkin was honored as an MFB Volunteer of the Month and a Key Club member three times.

His special Farm Bureau interests consist of the 2002 Farm Bill and the EPA ruling on the number of head per farm.

Besides being involved with Michigan Farm Bureau, Hotchkin has assisted in township zoning and planning for the past four years, served on the Ethical Decision Making Panel at Concord Middle School from 1997-99, the Big 9 Sportsman’s Club (1999-00), and served as a church youth director (1997-98).
