LANSING, Aug. 27, 2010 - What happens at next Wednesday's Elections Conference in Lansing won't stay at the conference. That's because the Michigan Farm Bureau (MFB) will stream live audio and video from the event on MFB's Web site, http://www.michfb.com/mfb/webcast, ensuring that farmers unable to attend won't miss out on hearing what candidates for governor, attorney general, and secretary of state have to say about agriculture and Michigan's future.
The free Webcast is scheduled to run the entire length of the Elections Conference, from 10 a.m. to approximately 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 1, excluding the luncheon from12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m. The conference will also be recorded and made available online for viewing at a later time.
MFB and GreenStone Farm Credit Services are sponsoring the event, which takes place at the Lansing Center in downtown Lansing. Democratic and Republican candidates for governor, secretary of state, and attorney general have been invited to appeal to the greater farm community and take questions from the conference sponsors, including MFB's political action committee AgriPac, along with farmers in attendance.
The tentative agenda affords 45 minutes for each gubernatorial candidate to outline his platform, answer specific questions concerning agriculture and MFB's Common Sense Solutions to Fix Michigan initiative, and take additional questions from the audience. Each candidate for secretary of state and attorney general will be provided a half-hour to do the same.
The conference lineup also includes American Farm Bureau Federation elections specialist Linda Johnson, who will outline grassroots strategies and tactics for helping to elect candidates endorsed by AgriPac as Friends of Agriculture.
An agenda outlining interview times will be posted to the Web, http://www.michfb.com/mfb/webcast, and continually updated as candidates confirm their attendance and interview times.
Individuals interested in taking advantage of the Webcast are encouraged to visit http://www.michfb.com/mfb/webcast beforehand, where information is posted on how to download the latest Adobe Flash plugin and upgrade a Web browser to Internet Explorer 8 or Firefox 3 for optimal viewing quality.
