"Share How You Care" Video Contest
Michigan Farm Bureau and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) team up to encourage Michigan's farmers to "Share How You Care." This state-wide video contest will give farmers the opportunity to showcase their commitment to protecting the environment, growing safe food, their compassion for animals and dedication to Michigan's future. It will also provide farmers with the chance to highlight how they work with NRCS to be good stewards of the land and environment.

How would you use an extra $500?
Contest Timeline:
- May 2, 2011: Contest launches
- May 2-September 2, 2011: Videos must be uploaded to Contest YouTube.com Channel
- September 2, 2011: 5 p.m. EDT Deadline- Contest ends
- After September 2, 2011: Winners selected and announced
- By December 15, 2011: Prizes delivered
Can I participate?
- This video contest is open to:
- all Michigan residents 18 years of age and older
- individuals that abide by the official contest rules
- Minors are allowed to participate (under the age of 18)
- With written parental or guardian permission with at least one contest eligible individual portrayed in the video. Click here to access the parental permission form.
- Not eligible to participate if you are an employee or immediate family member of an employee of NRCS or Michigan Farm Bureau Family of Companies. (See Contest Rules for complete description)
Follow these easy instructions:
- First, contestants must visit the contest Web site at http://www.farmers-care.com/care/videocontest to get a clear idea of the rules, goals and regulations for the contest.
- Second, visit www.youtube.com and create your own "channel" by creating an account. (For help with this, see "YouTube.com section" below.)
- Third, develop a video idea and begin working on it.
- Fourth, finish the video and complete any necessary editing.
- Now, add your video to your YouTube "channel" or account.
- Finally, re-visit the contest Web site and register for the contest, making sure to include your YouTube channel and video title on the registration form.
- Be sure to double check that your video(s) uploaded correctly and that the public can view your video.
- Once registered for the contest, videos submitted will be reviewed by the Contest Administrator and added to the contest YouTube channel (sharehowyoucare).
- Contestants will not be eligible for contest or prizes unless videos are posted to YouTube.com on the contest's channel (sharehowyoucare) and have registered on the official contest page by the submission deadline, September 2, 2011 at 5 PM EDT.

We encourage the public to:
- Visit the contest channel (sharehowyoucare), and view and support videos by "liking" them.
- Public voting will end September 9, 2011.
Make sure your video submission follows these rules:
- Videos will be judged on:
- Presentation of at least ONE of the following four themes relating to Michigan agriculture:
- Protecting the Environment
- Committed to Growing Safe Food
- Compassion for Animals
- Dedicated to Michigan's Future
- Provides creative content/message about how farmers work with NRCS to be good stewards of the land and environment.
*Videos must contain at least one of the four themes and must demonstrate how farmers work with NRCS to be good stewards of the land and environment in order to be eligible. - The number of views and likes on Contest YouTube Channel will be weighted into the judges' scores.
- Informative and accurate content.
- Contestants must name their videos and are encouraged to be creative.
- No music is allowed.
- Video audience is the public.
- There is no limit to the number of videos that a contestant enters into the contest. Only one prize per contestant will be awarded.
Using YouTube.com:
- You should create a YouTube account, designating a YouTube channel to you.
- Once you've created the account, check your account settings to ensure that your videos are public.
- You'll need to add your video for the contest to your YouTube account/channel once it's finished.
- After you've loaded the video to your account, view it to ensure that it loaded completely and that it's playing correctly.
- These steps ensure that the Contest Administrator can approve your video before adding it to the Contest YouTube Channel.
