Pick a Peck for People
Pick a Peck for People
"Pick a Peck for People" and start a new tradition of giving this fall. Celebrating its 5th consecutive year, this free community event is expected to surpass a running total of 20,000 pounds of donated apples this year. The annual Pick a Peck for People at The Country Mill Orchard in Charlotte invites families and friends to pick all the apples they can from 1 to 5 pm on Sunday, October 30th, 2011. Families and church youth groups can pick a bag of apples and then enjoy a complimentary hayride or corn maze entrance. The apples are then donated to the Saint Vincent DePaul Society located at St. Mary Blvd. in Charlotte and the Mid-Michigan Food Bank in Lansing. Both organizations donate the apples as part of their local food distribution to families in need. This year's event is part of Michigan Farm Bureau's Harvest for All campaign in which farmers across the state donate food and volunteer hours to help those in need. During the day, several other activities will be available. For more information, please visit http://www.countrymill.com or call 517-543-1019 x3.
