14th Annual Project R.E.D.
On September 13th, at 9:15 am., Huron County Farm Bureau's 14th Annual Rural Education Day officially began. The event consisted of 600 county students attending hands on learning experience of agriculture, dairy, and natural resources. The opening session began with a program conducted by Laker FFA "Michigan… See what we grow". Learning stations with such topics as Fitness, Lawnmower safety, pickles, Dairy Animals, Dairy Nutrician, hamburgers and Horseshoeing filled the day's agenda. Local farmers, agri-businesses, and teachers clearly see the value in educating our next generation about agriculture, and support Project RED and the importance of making the connection between the crop in the field, the processing, and marketing, food travels through to arrive at the grocery store. Rural Education Day is indeed an investment in our local education and a true coming together of the community to make this event a success.
