The group consisted of Jay Williams, Joe Ladd, Eric Bleich, Bambi Nevills-Denning, Mark and Sheryl Kies, Brad and Pam Benzing, Scott and Mary Welden, Terry Finegan, Scott and Ali Ferry, Mark Wiley, Bruce Lewis and Erin Bosch. Helping represent a cross section of Michigan's diverse farm economy, Ned Bever and Mark Kline took the interests of Hillsdale County agriculture to the nation's capitol by participating in Michigan Farm Bureau's 2011 Washington Legislative Seminar, March 9-11, in Washington, D.C. Rodney Oates, Nathan Baker, Sarah and Matt Dillon, Scott and Mary Welden joined other young farmers from across the state for a weekend of speakers, workshops and networking. Participants are selected each year starting in December. The social hour began at 6:30 p.m. and was followed by a buffet dinner. The Hillsiders Community Action Group hosted the family event, which included supervised kid's activities. http://www.michfb.com/ci/counties/news/29/7 http://www.michfb.com/ci/counties/news/29/7 Sole Source Aquifer Issue Several Hillsdale County Farm Bureau members attended an EPA information meeting in Hudson and a hearing held in Bryan, Ohio to ask questions about a request by the citizens of Bryan to designate the Michindoh Aquifer as a "sole-source" aquifer. That designation means the aquifer is the only source of drinking water for people in a nine-county area that includes parts of three states.
