The board of directors of the Isabella County Farm Bureau consists of eleven (11) elected seats.  One seat from each district listed below, five directors at-large, plus a representative of the Young Farmer Committee and a representative of the Promotion & Education Committee.

Districts are as follows:

District #1 ~ NorthWest (Coldwater, Gilmore, Sherman, Nottawa)

District #2 ~ NorthEast (Vernon, Wise, Isabella, Denver)

District #3 ~ SouthWest (Broomfield, Deerfield, Rolland, Fremont)

District #4 ~ SouthEast (Union, Chippewa, Lincoln, Coe)

Meet your board members:

Joyce Neyer has been involved with Farm Bureau for a number of years now and currently serves as President. She resides in Lincoln township with her husband, Jerry, and two sons, Drew and Sam. She teaches preschool at the Isabella Child Development Center and takes an active role in their children's school. Joyce helped to create our mobile Ag in the classroom studies for young children and continues to play an active role during Ag week. Joyce also has served as the county's newsletter editor.
Abe Pasch, his wife Misty, and their 3 children, Kelsey-6, Lauren-4 and Jacob-1 live in Nottawa Township and he is very interested in farming. He spent 15 years while he was growing up working on the farm and has been a full time farmer for 3 years. His dad encouraged him to stay in farming. He farms with his dad and his uncle and together they farm 1200 acres and raise wheat, corn, alfalfa and soy beans. They also have 220 dairy cows.

 

Gale Willoughby resides in Lincoln township with his wife, Lois. They have three children, Bonnie, Kurt, and Larry. He's been farming all of his life and currently farms 380 acres of dry beans, wheat, corn and hay. Gale is no stranger to Farm Bureau; he served as a board member in the 70's and currently serves as an At Large member. He is also a member of the Isabella County Planning Commission and Isabella County Parks and Recreation. He enjoys hunting, fishing, quiet walks around the pond in addition to carpentry work. He is a past member of Shepherd School Board, Isabella County Transportation Commission, Isabella County Road Commission, Isabella County Dept. of Public Works Commission, and has served on the board of the medical care facility remodeling project.

 

Dale Finnerty, his wife Janie and their 5 children, Amy, Ashley, Nattile, Joseph and Robert live in Nottawa Township. Dale farms 1,200 acres and grows Alfalfa, Wheat, Corn and Soybeans as well as having 800 head of Beef Cattle. He has been farming for twenty years and his family was very inspirational in this decision. He also believes raising cattle on his own created self-esteem.

Dale served on the board as our Vice President in 2000, is involved with St. Joseph the Worker Church and enjoys woodworking, hunting and four wheeling. His future goal is to make farming possible for his family.

 

Ed Kalis is a 1966 Blanchard High School graduate, spent 1967-1971 in the Air Force, and was an Isabella County Commissioner for four years. He was also on the Board of Directors for Shepherd State Bank/First Bank Central for thirteen years.

Edward his wife Shirley Ann, their children, Jon, Edward and Jason live in Fremont Township. Edward is sole proprietor of an 800-acre farm on which he grows Alfalfa hay, Grass Alfalfa Hay, corn and Dry Beans and has been farming since 1971. His father and mother were very encouraging and instrumental in his decision to farm and when he was selling feed and feed storage equipment he further decided it was what he wanted to do.

Edward is active in his church, the Airplane Owner and Pilots Association, the North American Hay and Forage Growers and 337 Sky Master Owner Association. He is very interested if flying, going to auctions and is a weather watchdog. His future goal is to retire.

 

CAMERA SHY

Bill Funnell continues to be active in Isabella Co. Agriculture following his retirement from farming just a few years ago. Bill and his family grew wheat, corn and soybeans as well as raised Holsteins and hogs in Isabella Township. He has served on the fair board and stays very involved in the 4-H council. Bill and his wife Charlotte raised 5 boys who were very active in agriculture and the fair.

John Kampf has served on the board for five years now filling the District 2 (NorthEast) position.  He resides in Denver township with his wife, Melissa, and four children, John III, Natalie, Dominic, and Conner.  He farms approximately 1,000 acres raising primarily corn, soybeans, wheat, oats and hay.  He has been farming most of his life and claims his father was the one who inspired him to go into farming.  During his spare time, he enjoys hunting and both ice and summer fishing.

 

CAMERA SHY

Frank Engler farms 1,200 acres of corn, soybeans, alfalfa and wheat in Deerfield township. He also raises heifer and feeds out steers. Frank has served as Isabella County Farm Bureau president in the past as well as several state committees. He is currently serving on the Greenstone FCS board and the Soil Conservation District Board. Frank family consists of his wife, Penny and their four children.

CAMERA SHY

Mike Klump farms 900 acres of corn soybeans and wheat in Lincoln township. In addition to farming Mike owns and operates M.A.K Enterprises and Fusion contracting, both general contracting companies; Klump management, a rental housing business and Silverleaf Insurance, a crop insurance agency. Mike and his wife Jamie have two children, Blake and Kaitlynn.

Melissa Nelson resides in Union township with her husband, Matt, and is currently serving as our Promotion & Education chairperson. She attends CMU and is working on her Bachelor's degree. She recently represented our organization by attending both the Lansing Legislative and Washington Legislative seminars.
