Candidate Evaluation Committee: Help evaluate local, state and national public officials seeking re-election and represent all or portions of our specific county. The committee will also be asked to evaluate candidates who are challenging the incumbent.

Membership Committee: Plan and conduct an annual membership campaign to assure continued membership growth in the county by retaining existing members and acquiring new ones.

County Annual Committee: Help plans the county Farm Bureau annual meeting with the board of directors' approval. Determine the meal, select the speaker(s), and secure the location. They also decide on decorations, supplies needed and prizes.

Promotion & Education/Information Committee: Carry out programs and projects for all Farm Bureau members and the general public to include: health and safety, leadership training, agriculture in the classroom, current issues, commodity promotion and consumer education. The (P&E) committee provides educational opportunities and experiences for Farm Bureau members and many non-members (students, consumer, potential members, and ect) to the end that Farm Bureau and agriculture are benefited.

Public Policy Committee: Work to implement legislative policies that will affect the state agriculture scene. Once policy is set, this committee plays an essential role in implementing Farm Bureau policy though the state branch of government. This committee also assists in developing a telephone grid, to spread the word to Farm Bureau members on important issues at hand, meet with legislators and attend meetings on legislation.

Policy Development Committee: Develop Farm Bureau policy recommendations on local, state, and national issues by encouraging the study and discussion of issues by all Farm Bureau members. The committee will also consider options obtained from researching issues affecting agriculture; formulates county, state and national policy recommendations, and submits them to members attending the county annual meeting for consideration and approval.

Nominating Committee: Select eligible members to run for the vacant positions on our board of directors. This committee's goal is to add other individuals from outside organizations (such as MSU Extension and Soil Conservation District) to help surface individuals who would make good board members. This committee begins meeting in mid-April to identify possible candidates, begin contact and present their qualifications at the county annual meeting.

Young Farmer Committee: Develop leadership in young producers ages 18-35. It also gives opportunities to go to state and local discussion competitions, and win cash and prizes. This is an exciting way to be part of Michigan's agriculture!

County Issues: This committee will work to build a better relationship between local officials and county Farm Bureau to include: identifying local issues, work with the Policy Development committee in developing resolutions, present local policy passed at the county annual to proper officials and strive to keep the county membership informed about local issues.

Communications: This committee will work with Montcalm County Farm Bureau and local media (newspapers, radio, television) to reach the public with news coverage, opinions and images pertaining to local agriculture. They solicit media coverage of agricultural and Farm Bureau issues and act as reporters when media can't meet such requests, contributing coverage of issues and events as warranted. They also strive to keep the county membership informed about Farm Bureau activities through this newsletter.
