Proposed Policy

Local Resolutions

Feral Swine

Due to having issues raised with feral swine and the risks they pose to agricultural products, the pork industry itself, and the health and safety of livestock, Gladwin County Farm Bureau supports tougher regulations on the hunting operations, in order to keep the risk of spreading disease and damaging farms to a minimum.  We also support the hunting and killing of feral swine if seen in the wild.

Roadways

Due to the potential safety hazards and concerns of both drivers and solicitors, Gladwin County Farm Bureau supports the elimination of vendors soliciting in road intersections.  We are defining vendors as people and/or organizations collecting donations to fund their cause.

Politicians

Due to the competitiveness in public campaigning, Gladwin County Farm Bureau supports that those running for office should have to prove, positive or negative, they present about themselves or their opponents.

Harvest Filter Strips

Due to recent science suggesting that harvesting filter strips prevents grasses from releasing their stored phosphorus back into the water system when the grass dies; Gladwin County Farm Bureau supports the harvesting of filter strips.

Going Green Initiative

Due to the increase in sales of non-carbonated beverages from companies that currently have bottle deposits on a portion of their products, Gladwin County Farm Bureau supports that these companies would have to expand deposits to all of their non-carbonated bottles (i.e. Coca Cola and PowerAde bottles, Pepsi Cola and Aquafina bottles, etc.)

School Curriculum

Due to school curriculum changes, Gladwin County Farm Bureau supports that the contents of school curriculums and educational materials should be based on scientific fact and not based on organizational propaganda.

International Trade Crossing

Gladwin County Farm Bureau supports the building of the International Trade Crossing in coordination with Michigan Farm Bureau's support of the current proposal agreement by the Michigan gubernatorial office and Canada.

Government Streamlining

Gladwin County Farm Bureau supports government streamlining, giving cuts in the correctional facilities first priority.  These cuts should be made so that the prisoners are only getting their basic necessities (i.e. food, clothing, shelter, limited exercise, and basic healthcare).

Processing Standards - Reaffirmation

Due to issues associated with perfectly good animals not being able to be used after the animal goes down and not being able to process said animal due to current standards, Gladwin Co Farm Bureau supports amending this law to allow use of these animals as long as a licensed vet signs off on the use of the animal.
