ROAD MAINTENANCE
Hillsdale County Farm Bureau recommends that the conversion of paved roads to gravel roads be a township decision and be subject to the approval of the township involved as well as a public comment session. ADOPTED
RECOGNITION
Hillsdale County Farm Bureau wishes to commend the Hillsdale Daily News and WCSR Radio for recognizing the importance of agriculture in this county and for their continued commitment to agricultural coverage. ADOPTED
State Resolutions
ROAD FUNDING
Hillsdale County Farm Bureau supports directing overweight and DOT fines to the county road fund of the county in which the infraction takes place. ADOPTED
AG PROGRAMS IN SCHOOL CONSOLIDATIONS
Hillsdale County Farm Bureau supports the required preservation of existing vocational or agricultural education programs in the case of school district consolidations. ADOPTED
ENGLISH AS OFFICIAL LANGUAGE
Hillsdale County Farm Bureau supports the adoption of the following line from existing AFBF policy 102; "We support English be established by law as the official language of the United States" into Michigan Farm Bureau state policy. ADOPTED
DEER BAITING
Hillsdale County Farm Bureau reaffirms Michigan Farm Bureau policy #43, regarding deer baiting. ADOPTED
National Resolutions
FEDERAL MOTOR CARRIER SAFETY ADMINISTRATION (FMCSA) FARM VEHICLE REGULATION CHANGES
Inter/Intrastate Commerce: FMCSA is considering guidance on interstate/intrastate commerce in regards to agricultural products. On the question of intrastate versus interstate commerce, Hillsdale County Farm Bureau supports that the producer's responsibility for the final destination of the commodity/product is terminated once the product is sold and delivered to the first place of delivery.
Implements of Husbandry: FMCSA is considering guidance regarding the exemption of implements of husbandry from classification as commercial motor vehicles and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Hillsdale County Farm Bureau believes that the existing guidance is sufficient and does not require additional review or modification. ADOPTED
2012 FARM BILL
Hillsdale County Farm Bureau encourages the timely completion of the 2012 Farm Bill approval process. ADOPTED
