Local Resolutions

Roadside Maintenance

Although we appreciate the roadside mowing that has been done, weeds on the corners are limiting the line of sight and becoming traffic hazards. Be it resolved, Hillsdale County Farm Bureau encourages the county road commission to forego the mowing of roadsides and concentrate on trimming further back on the corners to improve visibility.  ADOPTED 2009

State Resolutions

Earn a Buck

With the continuing increase in the deer herd, we need to cut down the number of does that are reproducing. Hillsdale County Farm Bureau encourages the DNR to adopt the successful program that the state of Wisconsin is using called "Earn a Buck Program." In order to obtain a buck license you must shoot a doe first.  ADOPTED 2009

SMV Sign Requirement for Horse-Drawn Vehicles

State law requires vehicles traveling under twenty-five miles per hour to use a SMV sign on the back of agricultural equipment.  Be it resolved that Hillsdale County Farm Bureau supports local law enforcement efforts to enforce the law to include any horse drawn vehicle, either agricultural or otherwise. ADOPTED 2009

License Plate Requirement for All Vehicles

In other states a license plate must be purchased for any vehicle using the roads, creating revenue to maintain the roads. Horses that are shod using Drill-Tek or borium cause wear to blacktop or concrete roads. Be it resolved, Hillsdale County Farm Bureau encourages local authorities to enforce current law requiring all horse-drawn vehicles using state and county roads to purchase license plates.  ADOPTED 2009
