Clinton County Farm Bureau promotes Ag Week-Third Grade Poster Contest

The Promotion and Education Committee invites all third grade teachers to promote Ag week by inviting their students to participate in our poster contest. Call the county for details. Letters were mailed to all third grade teachers in Clinton County. This year's theme is "Healthy Farms = Healthy Bodies"

Community Action Groups

Community Action Groups

This group of friends and neighbors meets monthly to discuss key issues affecting agriculture. Whether the issue is zoning, community planning, school finance, or even a neighborhood beautification project, a Community Action Group is the perfect tool to find solutions, gain knowledge, share ideas, and take action.

Clinton County has six Community Action Groups.

Lansing Legislative Seminar

Lansing Legislative Seminar

Each year, Farm Bureau organizes face-to-face meetings with hundreds of Farm Bureau leaders and their respective elected officials. These annual "lobbying" missions are a key element in the Farm Bureau grassroots policy development and policy execution process.

This year it takes place on February 18, 2009 located at the Lansing Center in Lansing, MI.

Michigan Farm Bureau Scholarship

Is your college student studying agriculture at MSU? If so they may qualify for the $1000.00 Karker Scholarship. The applications are due March 1, 2009 for students currently enrolled in a two-year, four-year, or post-graduate agricultural program at MSU. Photo Contest for the cover of our Annual Meeting Book

This is a photo contest for the cover of the 2009 County Annual Book. Please submit an ag. related photo to the office by July 30, 2009 and be eligible to win! Be creative and your picture could make it to the cover of Clinton County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting Book! Farm Bureau youth and adults members are eligible to enter to win. The winner will receive a Chamber Buck gift card, free admission to the County Annual Meeting with dinner on September 24, 2009, and the picture on the front of the annual meeting program workbook.

Promotion & Education

The goal of the Promotion and Education program is to educate Michigan consumers about agriculture through working with children and schools and coordinating public outreach programs to promote and educate about agriculture. In addition, the Promotion and Education program strives to educate farmers on issues impacting agriculture.

Washington Legislative Seminar

Washington Legislative Seminar

Each year, Farm Bureau organizes face-to-face meetings with hundreds of Farm Bureau leaders and their respective elected officials. These annual "lobbying" missions are a key element in the Farm Bureau grassroots policy development and policy execution process.

The 2009 Washington Legislative Seminar is on March 11-13 in Washington D.C. Kyle Barnhart and Jeff Wadell will represent our County Farm Bureau at this event.

Young Farmer

Young Farmer

The Young Farmer program is designed to develop leadership potential for men and women between the ages of 18 and 35.

Caleb Stewart is the chair of the Young Farmer Committee. The county has great opportunities for the Young Farmers to meet and share ideas with a wide variety of farming operations across Michigan. Caleb has awesome ideas this year ranging from agricultural tours to a holding a local softball tournament. Details will come soon.

Young People's Citizenship Seminar

Young People's Citizenship Seminar

Over two hundred twenty of the top students from Michigan convene each year in late June to learn about world economic and political systems and conduct their own mock election. Sponsored by county Farm Bureaus across the state, the Citizenship Seminar has been conducted for over 35 years and has provided leadership skills for over 5,000 of Michigan's youth.

This year we have a new volunteer running the program. His name is Kris Wardin and he is excited to participate in this event. This year it is located at Northwood University on June 22-26. If you know of a junior or senior that would like to go next year please contact the county office. There were two women selected to go this year: Erin Goerge and Rachell Simmon
