#36 PRODUCER SECURITY

Michigan Farm Bureau supports the Farm Produce Insurance Act (FPIA) and the Farm Produce Insurance Fund (FPIF) Authority that protects the interest of producers when selling their products.

We support the amendments to the FPIA which are proposed by the FPIF Authority.

MFB supports development of an industry task force to explore options designed to strengthen the position of Michigan Department of Agriculture under the Michigan Grain Dealers Act to secure and liquidate grain assets in the event of a failure of a licensed grain dealer, especially in situations involving bankruptcy or probate.
