Governor taps Farm Bureau members for beef, corn boards

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer recently announced appointments and reappointments to the Michigan Beef Industry Commission and Michigan Corn Marketing Program Committee. Three Michigan Farm Bureau members are among the appointees.

Michigan Beef Industry Commission

  • Travis Schunk, a Clare County Farm Bureau member, is a cattle buyer for JBS USA Holdings Inc., a beef and pork processing company. Schunk is reappointed to represent a member who is an executive of a meat packing company which purchases cattle and processes beef.
  • Jill C. Sears, a Jackson County Farm Bureau member, is the co-owner of Sears Farm in Horton. Sears is reappointed to represent members engaged in the feeding of cattle for beef production.
  • David L. Neitzel of Kentwood, a beef buyer and merchandiser for Meijer Inc. Neitzel is appointed to represent a member engaged in retail sales of beef.

The appointees will serve a term expiring May 2022.

Michigan Corn Marketing Program Committee

  • Kory R. Brodbeck, a Barry County Farm Bureau member from Woodland, is a partner of Brodbeck Farms in Lake Odessa, manager of Woodbury Grain LLC. Brodbeck is appointed to represent District 5 growers. He will serve a term expiring March 2022.
