A half-day field day has been scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 23 at Trierweiler Dairy for anyone who hauls semi-solid or liquid manure.
Sponsored by the Michigan Agri-Business Association, Michigan State University Extension and the Michigan Agricultural Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP), the field day will begin at 1 p.m. in a wheat field located about a mile west of the main dairy at 7655 S. Jones Road, Westphalia, MI. Look for the signs.
An optional tour of robotic milkers will be offered prior to the field day at 11:30 a.m. at the main dairy, located at 9123 Grange Road, Portland, MI. Be aware that Google maps will send you to a field on Jason Road when you type in the Grange Road address. Type in Trierweiler Dairy, Inc. instead and you will get to the right place.
Topics that will be covered during the field day include manure spreader calibration, manure spreader safety, MAEAP information, an update on the manure hauler certification program, and an update on possible legislation that could impact manure application across the state. MAEAP Phase One credit will be given to those who attend. The field day will conclude at 4 p.m.
There is no registration fee, but participants are asked to register for the event by following this link before Aug. 22.
