Michigan Farm Bureau (MFB) is pleased to announce Mitch Galloway has accepted the position of Associate Editor of MFB member publications, effective November 6. In his new role Mitch’s writing talents will be primarily focused on creating original content covering agricultural economic and legislative news and features for print and digital versions of Michigan Farm News.
Prior to joining Michigan Farm News, Mitch was the manufacturing and agribusiness reporter for MiBiz, a Grand Rapids-based business magazine with a print circulation size of roughly 35,000.
His journalism skills on key agricultural issues caught MFB's eye early-on in his career at MI Biz. Just a few of his recently published pieces include:
Before MiBiz, Mitch wrote for the Ludington Daily News, in Mason County as a community reporter. He also worked as a free-lance journalist for the Battle Creek Enquirer, a Gannett newspaper, for three years while attending college, working weekly coverage of high school and college sports in Southwest Michigan.
A native of Coldwater and a graduate of Olivet College, Mitch earned his bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communications with a minor in English in 2016. While going to school, Mitch served as a staff writer for the Olivet College Media Relations department.
He also helped to create and serve as editor of Olivet College’s Echo, a successful student newspaper which won numerous awards for writing, page layout and photography in the Weekly Category for the Michigan Press Association college newspapers during his tenure.
And finally, Mitch served as a social media intern for Michigan’s BIG Show (92.1 FM) for a semester where he managed social media content on Twitter and Facebook, and posted news for the BIG Show’s morning host, Michael Patrick Sheils.
