Woman killed after vehicle hits combine in Iosco County

A deadly crash in Mid-Michigan is renewing warnings about distracted driving. A local woman was killed when her vehicle slammed into the back of a combine, which is a massive farming machine.

It happened on Oct. 17 at 7:29 p.m. on M-55 in Iosco County’s Tawas Township. Michigan State Police said 30-year-old Allison Mitchell from National City hit the back of the farm equipment about an eighth of a mile west of Lorenz Road.

The driver of the combine told investigators he saw in his mirror a Chrysler Pacifica rapidly approaching him, and then hit the back of the combine. (Read more…)
