Mark Mathe serves on the Monroe County Farm Bureau Board of Directors as its vice president and Young Farmer Committee Chair.
Mark, who has served on the board since 2010, is in his second term as vice president. He has provided active leadership to the Young Farmer group and is very much appreciated for being quick to volunteer. He will do whatever needs to be done, from working on the Farm Bureau concession stand at the fair to interviewing scholarship applicants, articulating motions in board meetings and preparing a float for the Christmas in Ida parade.
Mark is a civil engineer at The Mannik and Smith Group Inc. He works with many of the townships in Monroe County doing site-plan reviews, road projects and multi-year asset management plans.
Mark lives in Ida with his wife, Sarah, and their daughter, Lauren. They raise beef and chicken for direct marketing of meat, along with eggs. Sarah also is active on the Monroe County Farm Bureau Young Farmer Committee and has represented the district on the statewide committee as well.
As leader of the Young Farmer group, Mark seeks new activities for the committee to participate in and gets everyone involved in them. He is willing to help out anyone and serve on any committee he can. This year, he was chosen as one of the four state finalists for Michigan Farm Bureau’s Young Farmer Excellence in Agriculture award.
