Bay County Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers enjoyed a summertime campout and tubing trip, setting off down the Rifle River from Whites Canoe Livery in Sterling.
“We had an excellent turnout for it being our first outing like this,” said Paige Lupcke, chair of Bay County’s Young Farmer committee. “We had a total of nine of our Young Farmer members who stayed, camped and tubed throughout the weekend.
“We even had our county president join in the fun Friday night!”
Feedback from attendees was encouraging enough, Lupcke said, that plans are already underway to reprise the event next summer.
“We have a tentative date set for next year—June 26-28—and are looking at other places for the outing in case we decide on a change of scenery,” Lupcke said.
Bay County Farm Bureau helped fund the event from its Young Farmer budget and provided the meat for a potluck dinner Saturday night.
“Next year we hope to have a bigger turn out,” Lupcke said, “and possibly open the outing up to other counties in our district.”
