More than 2,000 Farm Bureau members from as far away as the western Upper Peninsula made it to Lansing June 14 to help celebrate the organization’s 100th anniversary at one of the marquee events on the yearlong centennial calendar.
MFB’s Centennial Celebration welcomed members, staff and emeritus leaders to Farm Bureau Center for what amounted to a massive summer picnic featuring games, food, entertainment and a selection of custom beverages brewed and vinted just for the occasion.
Former Governor Rick Snyder attended to help recognize the industry that enjoyed such favor throughout his administration. Snyder helped MFB President Carl Bednarski christen the new, second FARM Science Lab mobile classroom and inter the organization’s centennial time capsule on the ground of Farm Bureau Center.
A strong Young Farmer presence nodded toward MFB’s next 100 years, with a cornhole tournament and a frenzied audience for a personal performance from upcoming country singer Jordan Davis.
