Before Christmas blots Farm Bureau entirely out of your consciousness, note that these three late-December registration and application windows will close very soon:
COUNCIL OF PRESIDENTS registration closes THIS FRIDAY, Dec. 21
Exclusively for county Farm Bureau presidents, the Council of Presidents’ Conference takes place Feb. 4-5 at Michigan State University. The 2019 event begins Feb. 4 with a special commemoration of MFB’s founding on the campus of what was then Michigan Agricultural College.
All county Farm Bureau presidents, current and former, are encouraged to attend this special centennial-year event. Work with your county administrative manager to register by Dec. 21 and look for more information forthcoming in Presidents’ Advisor.

LOCAL HISTORY TEAM GRANTS applications due by Dec. 28
Local History Teams have until Dec. 28 to submit applications for the first round of grants of up to $500 per county Farm Bureau to support their work celebrating the legacy of their local farm communities. Applications will be evaluated in January, with grants disbursed in February 2019.
(The original deadline was Dec. 21, but we’re keeping the window open another week because we neglected to mention it in the previous issue of Farm Gate. Blame Jeremy.)
The online application form is available now, and asks for information about the projects and activities you’re planning, member involvement and outreach beyond the farming community.
A second grant cycle will see applications accepted April 7-19, with awards disbursed in June 2019.

GROWING TOGETHER registration closes Jan. 8
Growing Together is a major hybrid event that happens every three years when we smoosh together the Young Farmer Leaders and Voice of Agriculture conferences. It’s an exciting experiment in comingling some of the organization’s most active members for a packed weekend of ag facility tours, speakers and workshops all geared toward equipping attendees with shiny new tools to deploy back home in their county Farm Bureaus.
It’s also an ideal opportunity to expose new members to some of the best programming Farm Bureau has to offer.
The 2019 Growing Together Conference takes place Feb. 15-17 at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in downtown Grand Rapids. Registration is open and will remain open through Jan. 8.
