LANSING — Michigan Farm Bureau’s (MFB) Ag Labor and Safety Services (ALSS) department is partnering with county Farm Bureaus this year to help reinforce farm safety and labor practices. So far this safety season, two county-based events are scheduled:
March 19 — Clinton County Farm Labor Onboarding Program
April 4 — Monroe Farm Worker Safety Day
At the Monroe safety day, respirator fit-testing by Debra Chester will be available for those who bring their respirator and medical evaluation certification.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires medical evaluation before any employee can be fit-tested or wear a respirator. If you wish to receive a respirator fit-test, please have a medical evaluation conducted by a physician or licensed health care professional prior to the meeting.
The Worker Protection Standard has adopted the basic medical evaluation procedure; bring appropriate documentation with you.
3M Online Respirator Medical Evaluation provides an immediate medical evaluation for all brands of respirators and is available in English and Spanish.
No pre-registration is required and both events are free of charge. For more information or to schedule an event in your county, contact Corina Salinaz, 517-679-5352.
