Governor Gretchen Whitmer recently announced appointments to the Farm Produce Insurance Authority Board of Directors, including Huron County Farm Bureau members Jason Haag and Rita Herford, and Hillsdale County Farm Bureau member Mark Kies.
“We’re always proud to see our members serving in these leadership positions to protect the state’s agriculture industry and individual farmers, but to also help influence growth and leverage new opportunities,” said Theresa Sisung, Michigan Farm Bureau’s field crops and advisory team specialist. “We would also like to thank Sanilac County Farm Bureau member Matt Frostic for his years of services as his term on the board expires this year.”
All appointees will serve a term expiring June 20, 2022.
The Farm Produce Insurance Authority Board of Directors represents farmers, the grain industry, and banking interests. The Board administers the Farm Produce Insurance Fund and was created to protect producers in the event of a farm produce dealer's financial failure.
