Gov. Rick Snyder recently announced the appointment of six Farm Bureau members to serve on the newly-created Michigan Blueberry Commission.
Blueberry growers from across the state voted to form the Commission earlier this year to improve the economic position and competitiveness of the state’s blueberry industry by supporting research, education and promotion programs (related story).
“I thank these individuals for their commitment to supporting and improving Michigan’s blueberry industry, and securing Michigan’s place as a national leader in blueberry production,” said Snyder.
The Michigan Blueberry Commission was created through the farmer-initiated process outlined in the Agricultural Commodities Marketing Act.
