The Michigan Farm Bureau (MFB) Young Farmer program supports Youth Discussion Meets at the regional and state levels for 4-H and FFA members, dependents of Farm Bureau members or students interested in agriculture.
Six regional contests occur in the fall. From each region, the top three individuals will be chosen to compete at the state contest. Regional finalists compete for the state title at the State Youth Discussion Meet held during the Michigan Farm Bureau Annual Meeting.
A prize will be awarded to the 18 state contestants and certificates will be awarded to the top six contestants.

The discussion is not a debate but rather a way to share ideas, identify the cause and effect of a problem, and evaluate and compare alternative solutions. Participants should attempt to cooperatively share ideas and further develop their understanding of the topic/issue.
