Farmers need to stay on point when it comes to submitting comments on a proposed replacement to the Obama Administration’s ill-conceived 2015 Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) rule, according to Don Parrish, senior director of congressional relations for the American Farm Bureau Federation.
Quick Congressional approval of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) — while vital to maintaining $39 billion in agricultural exports as a result of NAFTA — will send a much bigger trade message to other U.S. global trading partners.
Despite unsuccessful Congressional efforts last year to secure passage of a revised guestworker program known as H-2C, there may be an opportunity in newly introduced legislation that would provide “a path to legalization” for undocumented agricultural workers that are already here.
