In 2021 Michigan Farm Bureau will offer its third biannual Academy for Political Leadership, a leadership development program for Farm Bureau members interested in politics and government. Topics covered include running an effective campaign; how government functions; how legislation is developed; a day in the life of a legislator; political fundraising; media in politics and more.
WHY: We need more farmers involved in government at the local, state and federal levels. The Academy for Political Leadership gives Farm Bureau members the tools they need to be effectively involved in government, represent agriculture and make a difference.
WHEN: January through April, 2021 (approximately five two-day meetings)
WHERE: Lansing and Washington D.C.
WHO: Farm Bureau members interested in politics and government, contemplating a run for public office or anticipating future leadership roles.
HOW MUCH: $500 per participant
Participants must be nominated by their county Farm Bureau by Aug. 31, 2020. Counties may nominate more than one individual. MFB sends applications to nominees, then selects the most qualified candidates for admission into the Academy.
