Hitching Post: Climate, weather on deck

Hitching Post 2020_Logo The Hitching Post series continued June 30 with a special edition focusing on COVID-19’s impact on agriculture. We’ve got another session in the forecast for July 14 focusing on climate and weather.

Members can listen in as a group of Michigan Farm Bureau public policy specialists and industry professionals discuss critical agricultural topics in a laid-back virtual setting. They will look at current situations within the topic area, what related policy or programs MFB provides, and what next steps may look like.

Join Farm Bureau members Rita Herford and Isaiah Wunsch for a discussion with MFB staffers Laura Campbell and Theresa Sisung about the impacts of climate and weather on agriculture, including:

Kellogg's Great Lakes Origin program and sustainability practices
Challenges of controlling pests and unpredictable weather in specialty crops
Weather trends in the Great Lakes region, such as increased spring rains that can cause flooding and nutrient losses from fields
