Livingston County Farm Bureau to Host 2026 Ag Awareness Day
May 20, 2026 | Livingston County, MI
The Livingston County Farm Bureau will host its annual Ag Awareness Day on May 20, 2026, welcoming nearly 800 students from across Livingston County for a hands‑on day of agricultural discovery. With the help of more than 150 dedicated volunteers, the event will connect students with local farmers, agribusiness professionals, and community partners to learn where their food comes from and why agriculture matters.
Ag Awareness Day is designed to introduce elementary students to the many facets of Michigan agriculture through interactive, age‑appropriate learning stations. Throughout the day, students will rotate through exhibits highlighting crop farming, livestock care, dairy production, food safety, natural resources, and agricultural careers. Each station will emphasize real‑world applications of classroom learning while showcasing the important role agriculture plays in everyday life.
“Our goal is to help students build a connection to agriculture in a meaningful and memorable way,” said representatives from the Livingston County Farm Bureau. “Many of these students may not have the opportunity to visit a farm, so Ag Awareness Day helps bridge that gap by bringing agriculture directly to them.”
The success of the event will be made possible by an incredible group of 150 volunteers, including Farm Bureau members, FFA students, teachers, agribusiness professionals, and community supporters. Volunteers will lead learning stations, assist with logistics, and help ensure the day runs smoothly for both students and educators. Their enthusiasm and willingness to share their knowledge plays a vital role in making the event impactful.
Teachers attending Ag Awareness Day year after year value the event for reinforcing classroom curriculum while providing students with engaging, hands‑on experiences. From learning how crops are grown to understanding animal care and conservation practices, students are expected to leave the day with a deeper appreciation for the farmers and agricultural workers who support their communities.
