On Tuesday, May 6, voters in 68 Michigan counties will head to the polls for local elections. Matt Kapp, MFB Government Relations Specialist, is encouraging county Farm Bureau members not to overlook the importance of these local votes.

Counties with upcoming local elections

“Local elections often fly under the radar, but they carry just as much weight as statewide contests,” said Kapp. “They give residents a direct voice on school millages, community proposals, and other local issues.”

“To protect the future of our farms, families, and rural areas, we need to seize every chance—big or small—to shape the decisions being made.”

Details on absentee voting, polling hours and locations, and checking your registration can be found at the Secretary of State’s Michigan Voter Information Center
