Chris Maye of Union City, Michigan received the Farm Bureau Insurance Directors’ Award at the company’s Multi-Line Marketing Convention hosted in Grand Rapids this year.

The award recognizes a Farm Bureau Insurance agent within his or her first five years with the company who exemplifies a commitment to professional development, community involvement and a successful office environment.

Maye has quickly built his business into a consistent top performer among Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan agencies, earning the All American distinction and membership to the Life Elite Club each year. In addition, he has been part of the Executive Club and MLSC Gold a pair of times, while also supporting the Agent Charitable Fund and serving as president of his local Business Network International.

In addition to the success of his agency, Maye reads to local school children, speaks at high school career fairs, and is a distinguished buyer at livestock expos. During the pandemic, he bought 25 lunches every Wednesday during the month of April in support of the frontline workers. He also supported Farm to Fork in in his hometown.

Maye, a former Division I NCAA athelete and graduate of the University of Michigan, compared winning the Directors’ award from Farm Bureau Insurance to past track & field accomplishments in his acceptance speech. “I was honored to be nominated for such a prestigious award, but after looking at the roster of nominees I liked my chances of winning that 60-meter (dash) Big 10 Championship even better.” He continued, “(So) how I feel about winning this award is much like how I felt about winning that Big 10 Championship in the 60-meter dash for the University of Michigan.”
