Clinton County Farm Bureau Doe Derby Provides Over 3,000 Pounds of Venison to Local Food Banks

St. Johns, Mich. — December 21, 2025 — The Clinton County Farm Bureau is pleased to announce the success of its Doe Derby, held on December 21, 2025, which helped provide a significant donation of locally sourced protein to families in need across Clinton County.

A total of 72 deer were harvested during the event, resulting in more than 3020 pounds of venison. The meat will be donated to the Greater Lansing Food Bank and will be distributed to Clinton County food banks through the Hunters Feeding Michigan program.

Hunters Feeding Michigan is a statewide partnership between the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the Food Bank Council of Michigan, and the Feeding America network, working together to ensure donated deer are safely processed and delivered to food assistance programs throughout the state.

“The Doe Derby demonstrates how agriculture, conservation, and community service can come together for a greater good,” said a representative of the Clinton County Farm Bureau. “This event supports responsible wildlife management while helping provide nutritious food to neighbors who need it most.”

The hunters were rewarded for their harvest with prizes for the most deer brought in, the largest doe and several other door prizes were given out.

The Clinton County Farm Bureau extends sincere appreciation to the event sponsors whose support made this effort possible, including Davis Meat Packing of St. Johns, Michigan Farm Bureau Insurance Agents for Change, French/Silm/Weber Agency, Fuerstenau/Burkett Agency, Voisinet Farms of Laingsburg, and Ending Childhood Hunger in Michigan Foundation. Special thanks are also extended to the participating hunters and processors for their commitment to giving back to the community.

Through the combined efforts of sponsors, volunteers, and partners, the Clinton County Farm Bureau’s Doe Derby continues to make a meaningful impact by helping stock food pantry shelves during a time of increased need.
