Young minds at the McBain Community Library last month nourished their hunger to learn more about where their food comes with a reading and Q&A around Farm Boots by Lisl H. Detlefsen.
Endorsed by Farm Bureau for its accuracy in depicting modern agriculture, Farm Boots tours young readers through various types and seasons of farm work — all through the lens of one a farmers’ most important clothing articles: different boots for planting, animal care, winter snow, harvesting equipment and other specific tasks.
Everyone gathered enjoyed coloring and creating their own picture of various boots and coloring farm-themed outlines. Each youngster also got and coloring book to take home and a boot-themed sticker.
Farm Boots wrapped up Missaukee County Farm Bureau’s classroom outreach activities for the 2025-26 school year. Look for them to resume in the fall!
