Upwards of 525 students at Lake City Elementary School learned how science and farming overlap thanks to a visit from Michigan Farm Bureau’s FARM Science Lab, May 18-21.
I had the opportunity to help in the lab for a couple of days with kindergarten and fourth-graders. They had so much fun while they were learning about agriculture!
Kindergarten learned about “crawly” creatures, including how to identify them and the overall importance of helpful insects.
Fourth-graders learned all about the “Power of the Potato,” from the first seed that goes in the ground to some of the delicious final products potatoes produce.
It was a fun two days; I especially loved how engaged the students were and how interested they were in learning about agriculture!
