The Oakland County Farm Bureau is proud to offer the Frank Genovese Memorial Scholarship, honoring the legacy of a dedicated agricultural advocate, educator, and longtime board member.
Frank Genovese served on the Oakland County Farm Bureau Board for more than 20 years and was the owner of Candy Cane CHRISTmas Tree Farm in Oxford, Michigan. While he had a professional background in criminal justice, his true passion was agriculture — especially gardening. Frank was deeply committed to sharing his knowledge with others, teaching gardening classes for all ages and mentoring countless individuals and community groups. His efforts helped inspire many to grow their own food while supporting local food pantries and outreach efforts.
This scholarship reflects Frank’s lifelong mission of helping others and fostering a love for agriculture. Five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing a degree in agriculture, natural resources, or veterinary programs.
Eligible applicants must be graduating seniors or post-secondary students with an Oakland County Farm Bureau membership (or a parent/guardian membership if under age 21).
Applications are due April 30, 2026, and must be submitted electronically to [email protected]. Scholarship recipients will be recognized during Farm Bureau Day at the Oakland County Fair on July 13.
Students with a passion for agriculture and a desire to make a difference are encouraged to apply and continue Frank Genovese’s legacy of education, service, and community impact.
