The Heart of Our Work - Volunteer Appreciation Bonfire

A perfect fall evening spent celebrating our incredible volunteers! Families gathered around the bonfire, kids roasted s’mores, and laughter filled the air. Image credit: Taylor Schomaker

Saginaw County Farm Bureau hosted our first-ever Volunteer Appreciation Bonfire, made possible through the thoughtful planning of our Promotion & Education Committee Chair, Taylor Schomaker.

Our volunteers give so much of their time, energy, and expertise—not only to Farm Bureau but also to the broader agricultural community. They’re farmers, ag professionals, and neighbors who believe in making a difference right here in Saginaw County.

One volunteer shared something that stuck with us:

We never really do anything but work, so it was nice to do something social for a change.

That simple comment captured exactly why this evening mattered. Taking time to recognize and celebrate volunteers isn’t just about saying “thank you.” It’s about creating moments to connect, unwind, and remind the people who power our mission how appreciated they truly are.

Here’s to the volunteers who keep our organization growing—and to making sure they always know how valued they are.
