Jeffrey Erickson of The Erickson Family Agency in West Branch, Michigan, received the Farm Bureau Insurance Directors’ Award at the company’s annual Convention held in Traverse City this February. The award recognizes a Farm Bureau Insurance agent within their first five years with the company who exemplifies a commitment to professional development, community involvement and a fostering a successful office environment.

Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan Statewide Sales Director Nick Hurst recalled comments from Erickson’s Managing Partners when presenting the award stating, “He lives and breathes the Trusted Advisor model. In our humble opinion, it would be hard to find another agent in our company who has done as much as he has in the first five years.” Hurst further quoted the partners who quipped, "We've researched, but unfortunately have not found a cloning device to have 50 more Jeff Ericksons.”

Citing Erickson’s achievements and involvement, Hurst noted that Erickson was a Pacesetter for his class in addition to participating and sitting on the board of the Agent Charitable Fund, the West Branch Chamber of Commerce, sponsoring the America & Me Essay Contest, Life Choices Resource Center, Coaches vs Cancer, Farmers Markets, and serving as a founding sponsor for the Zach Morgan Memorial Fund.

"Whatever small successes I've had in this business and life, is really nothing more than a combination of the grace of God and learning from other people,” Erickson noted as he recalled observing other Farm Bureau Insurance agents at the outset of his career. “As I've studied successful people in this company, a few things have stood out to me. First, they prioritize helping and serving people and they do so in a very specific and honorable way. They help others with no strings attached. They help the clients for the client’s benefit not their own. They do what is right by the client, and they always put the client first. They bring a passion and a focus on the outcome for their customer. They're not caught up in transactional business, but rather in building lasting relationships. They don't just solve their clients problems, but they strive to make their lives better.”

"I want to proudly accept this award on behalf of the entire North region,” said Erickson of his Northern Michigan peers, prior to thanking the team at the Erickson Family Agency in West Branch, his Managing Partners, Farm Bureau Insurance leadership, fellow agents, mentors, and his wife Sandi, whom he credited as, “…my rock, my foundation, my biggest fan, and my greatest cheerleader,” prior to calling her up to accept the award with him.
