Isabella County dairy farmer Jerry Neyer has earned the “Friend of Agriculture” designation and endorsement from AgriPac in the race for Michigan’s 92nd House District.

The newly-redrawn district encompasses Isabella County and a portion of Gratiot County, including Alma.

Along with his experience serving on the Isabella County Planning Commission for 18 years, Neyer is actively involved with the Isabella County Farm Bureau, serving on the county board for more than 20 years — including two terms as county president. He also served as chair of his county Farm Bureau’s Policy Development Committee and as a member of the State Policy Development Committee.

“I have been actively advocating for agriculture and the rural community for the past 25 years,” Neyer wrote in his AgriPac State candidate questionnaire, used by county Candidate Evaluation Committees.

“We need representatives in our state government advocating for agriculture and our rural communities. I want to be one of the people doing just that. If our rural communities are strong our whole state will benefit.”

Neyer has spent the last 30 years working his family's 300-cow dairy farm with his dad and brother, also raising heifers, and running a custom chopping service.

He said one of his goals as a State Representative would be to reduce the “overregulation and bureaucratic red tape” that business and agriculture face so that they are able grow and adapt to changing markets without being held up by unreasonable rules and regulations.
