Michigan Farm Bureau, AgriPac release legislator vote record

Date Posted: April 30, 2026

Ahead of the state’s 2026 primary and general elections, Michigan Farm Bureau (MFB) and its political action committee, AgriPac, has released its 2026 vote record. Local Farm Bureau members can review how their state and federal representatives and senators voted on issues important to agriculture and MFB’s member-developed policy.

“The vote record is helpful to members to review how their elected officials voted on legislation Michigan Farm Bureau either supported or opposed,” said Matt Kapp, MFB’s government relations specialist. “It helps them further familiarize themselves with incumbent legislator candidates that are running for reelection or potentially a different office.”

He added, the vote record is one of several tools used by county Farm Bureau candidate evaluation committees to determine which candidates they’ll recommend to receive AgriPac’s Friend of Agriculture endorsement.

“Our local candidate evaluation committees also conduct interviews and review a questionnaire completed by the candidates to gain an understanding of the candidate’s background and agricultural policy knowledge or stances,” Kapp said.

State legislative issues included in this year’s vote record highlight a broad range of issues impacting agriculture, including labor regulations like earned sick time, environmental stewardship through MAEAP funding, and expanded opportunities for value-added production such as cottage foods, honey, and maple syrup. It also covers property rights, land use, and regulatory reforms—such as farmland preservation, energy siting authority, and agency access to private land—along with wildlife management, hunting policies, and emerging markets like sustainable aviation fuel.

At the federal level, issues focus on major national policies affecting agriculture, including tax and farm program support through the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” workforce costs, and school nutrition standards impacting dairy demand. It also highlights issues related to trade fairness for specialty crops, regulatory reforms under environmental laws, wildlife management, and federal actions supporting specialty crop growers and H-2A program stability.
