This meeting is of great importance in developing policies crucial to agriculture. Farm Bureau advocates on behalf of farmers at the local, state, and national levels. The Monroe County Farm Bureau Policy Development committee members have been working to identify issues and determine policies for all agricultural members to discuss and vote on at the September 18th annual meeting. Approved state and national policy resolutions are combined with those from other counties for discussion and voting later this year at the statewide annual meeting. Monroe County is known for its meaningful policy contributions that are often adopted at the state and national level. These policies provide the direction for legislators and regulators while determining rules and laws that impact agriculture. We need your voice; this is how we do our part as a grassroots organization and effectively press for changes that benefit farmers and farmland owners.

The Monroe County Farm Bureau Board of Directors provide the leadership for our organization. There will be two board positions on the ballot this year: the West-Central District (Dundee-Summerfield) currently held by Jennie Stanger and a Director At-Large position currently held by Holly Thompson. Both of these board seats are eligible for a 3-year term. Any eligible member who would like to run for one of these positions should contact the county office for referral to the nominating committee or plan to be nominated from the floor at the meeting.

Farmers and landowners who are not yet members may attend. We welcome you to join the largest, most effective farming organization to meet likeminded people, help the industry and take collective action to make things better for all of agriculture. This is a free event for our regular agricultural members and special guests. RSVPs are required and due no later than September 4th using the reservation form, calling the office at (734) 269-3275 or by email to [email protected].
