Newell's Evergreen Nursery recently hosted a group of Lake City first-graders. The nursery supplies a variety of Christmas tree transplants throughout the Midwest to commercial and residential customers.
Students and grown-ups alike learned a lot about starting Christmas trees from tiny seeds!
Husband and wife Nathan and Jamie Newell guided their young visitors around their family-owned and operated tree nursery, explaining as they went how each component works.
The whole class had a great time visiting the fields of young seedlings and even planted a few, then each student got a tiny tree to take home and plant!
