Promote ag literacy at your local library

Public libraries are perfect venues for promoting agricultural literacy outside the confines of the school year.
Date Posted: February 26, 2026

From long days in the field to family vacations and county fairs, summer is a busy time of the year in Michigan. With so much going on, it can be challenging to find simple, meaningful ways to engage kids in agriculture literacy during those short summer months.

That’s where the AgVenture Library Kit comes in! This ready-to-use kit is a great way for county Farm Bureaus to partner with their local libraries and connect your community with ag literacy all summer long.

This year’s collaborative summer library program theme is “Unearth a Story” — a perfect opportunity to dig into agriculture! County Farm Bureaus can easily align with this theme by sharing an agriculture-themed book bundle that inspires curiosity and a love of reading.

Each AgVenture Library kit includes:

  • Four ag accurate children’s books
  • One set of 30 soil-themed Ag Magazines
  • An educator guide providing hands-on activities to go with each book.

The AgVenture Library Kit cost $60 and helps students dig deeper into where their food comes from and unearth their own story along the way.

This is a simple, effective way to collaborate with your local library, share the story of agriculture, and promote ag literacy. Summer days may be long and full, but this kit makes engagement easy and impactful for county Farm Bureaus.

The AgVenture Library Kit is available to be order on the MI Ag in the Classroom store from March 9-24. The kits will be shipped in May, ready for you to deliver to your local library.

Let the AgVenture Library Kit help you make ag literacy easy, fun and meaningful this summer!
