There’s never a shortage of issues facing our farm families, businesses, and communities – and we know these issues are ever changing. This makes the grassroots policy development process you, our members, endeavor upon each year, critical to our county Farm Bureau’s and Michigan Farm Bureau’s ability to survive and thrive.

As a member you have the right to share input and offer additions, changes, or deletions to the organization’s current policy book through the local policy development process. Part of this process includes district-wide policy development meetings that are happening throughout the summer.

Wondering what to expect? District policy development gatherings allow you to network, learn about challenges and opportunities facing the industry, and have productive discussions on how Farm Bureau can influence the direction or outcome of issues.

As details are confirmed, this article will be updated with dates, locations, times, and other relevant information. Reach out to the contacts listed to communicate your interest in participating.

We hope to see you at a meeting, or perhaps see you utilize one of the many digital resources available. As the saying goes, “action always beats intention” and your voice matters to the future of Michigan agriculture.

Proposals developed at local meetings will be carried forward to county annual meetings where members will vote to pass the proposals on to the 21-member state-level policy development committee. The final slate of policies is then considered by voting delegates at MFB’s annual meeting, Nov. 29-30 in Grand Rapids.
