The Michigan Manure Summit is returning for its fifth year and this time in a new venue.
Set for Jan 22, 2025, the summit will take place at the Okemos Conference Center from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Agenda topics include biosecurity, safety, spill response scenario training, and more.
Presented in partnership by the MFB Family of Companies and MSU Extension, the summit is part of the Michigan Manure Hauler Certification Program. Launched in 2020, the certification program creates a pathway for farms and manure applicators to move from training to certification, to third party audit — incentivized by insurance premium reductions — without implementing a mandatory program.
While registration for the event will open in the fall, organizers encourage those interested in sponsoring the event or presenting during it to reach out now.

“The Summit is for anyone who hauls and/or applies manure, so sponsoring or presenting is a great way to connect with farmers and manure haulers in the state,” said Tess Van Gorder, Michigan Farm Bureau’s conservation and regulatory relations specialist.
“This event has continued to grow in popularity and the planning team is excited to provide the same great content in a new venue.”
