Since 2012, the Michigan Ag Council has worked to share the story of Michigan agriculture and highlight the hardworking families behind our local farms. This mission is made possible through collaboration with commodity groups, agribusinesses and partners like Michigan Farm Bureau — all united in the goal of helping consumers better understand where their food comes from.
Connecting with Consumers
Through the Ag Council’s vision to meet consumers where they are, the Michigan GROWN, Michigan GREAT brand was created. To live out the purpose of the brand, Michigan Ag Council staff and partners work together to share ag-accurate information online, attend farmers markets across the state with informational handouts and a Michigan commodity trivia wheel, host a yearly Down on MI Farm dinner series to connect local community and social media influencers with farmers in their area, and much more.
The Ag Council’s work is truly a collaborative effort. With a full-time staff of one and a part-time social media contractor, the Michigan Ag Council relies heavily on ambassadors and partners to make these efforts possible.
Our Valued Partners
Aside from Michigan Farm Bureau, the Michigan Ag Council exists thanks to the paid partnership of the Corn Marketing Program of Michigan, Michigan Soybean Committee, Michigan Pork Producers Association, Michigan Milk Producers Association, Michigan Sugar, Michigan Vegetable Council, Michigan Beef Industry Commission, Michigan State Horticultural Society, Michigan Wheat Program, Michigan Christmas Tree Association, United Dairy Industry of Michigan, and the Michigan Blueberry Commission. In an ex officio capacity, the Ag Council is also supported by MSU Extension, the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development, and the Michigan Farmers Market Association.
