2025 Calhoun County Farm Bureau Agriculture Scholarship
March 5 - June 1, 2025 (All Day)
The Calhoun County Scholarship for Studies in Ag-Related Fields was established in 1987 by the members of the Calhoun County Farm Bureau and contributions in the memory of Arthur L. Banfield and Wendall Hart.
The Calhoun County Farm Bureau offers this scholarship to:
The Calhoun County Farm Bureau Scholarship is awarded each year to one or more outstanding high school seniors, college or trade school students that have been accepted by a post-secondary school. Scholarships are awarded based on leadership, community activities, GPA, educational and career plans. Preference will be given to those individuals who plan to pursue a career in, or directly related to, the agricultural industry. Received scholarship money is applied to the school year the recipient has applied. Students may reapply for this scholarship money for up to 4 years of study depending on their length of post-secondary degree/certificate and awarded up to $1,000 in scholarship funds.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
1. The applicant must be one of the following:
- Regular or Associate Member of Calhoun County Farm Bureau
- The son or daughter of a Regular or Associate Member*
- Active FFA or 4-H member
- Applicants not meeting the above criteria may also be nominated by a Regular member of Calhoun County Farm Bureau. A one-page nomination letter, signed by the Regular Member must be attached to the completed application.
2. Applicant must be a full-time student (12 credit hours or equivalent) for fall 2025.
3. Applicants may use the scholarship for attending a college of their choice, including community and trade schools.
*Regular member is an agriculture affiliated member as defined by the county farm bureau by-laws and approved by the county farm bureau’s board of directors. Associate members are defined as a non agriculture affiliated member. Contact the office for questions (269) 986-2999.
REQUISITES:
- Completed application.
- Copy of current high school, college or trade school transcript.
- Two letters of recommendation from a non-family member. Letters should address your work ethic, leadership skills and community involvement, specifically highlighting your efforts in the agriculture industry (if applicable).
- Nomination letter of support (if applicable)
- Headshot photo (Accepted files: tiff, jpeg, png, etc). Should you be selected for the scholarship, your photo will be used for announcement publications by Calhoun County farm Bureau. By submitting your photo, you agree to allow Calhoun County Farm Bureau to use your photo for the recipient announcements such as our news stories, newsletter, social media and annual meeting program.

SELECTION:
1. The selection of recipient(s) will be made by a committee chosen by the Board of Directors of Calhoun County Farm Bureau.
2. The determination of the appropriate recipient(s) will be based upon: • Completion of all the requisites and application. • Submission of the requisites and application by June 1, 2025. • A review of the applicant’s academic achievements, career goals, and character. • Finalists may be required to attend a personal interview.
DISBURSEMENT:
1. Recipient(s) will be notified by June 6, 2025, by phone and/or email along with a letter in the mail.
2. Payments will be made payable to the recipient(s) of the scholarship winner’s school by August 1, 2025.
3. Recipient(s) are encouraged, but not required, to attend the 2025 Calhoun County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, to be recognized.
4. Recipient(s) will receive a one-year paid membership for Calhoun County Farm Bureau. Note: If recipient(s) have not yet reached age 18, a membership will be awarded at the time of their 18th birthday.
