Two hundred supporters raised over $50,000 to end hunger in Michigan on May 24 at the Farm Bureau of Michigan Agent Charitable Fund (ACF) Statewide Fundraiser in Mt. Pleasant. Supporters took part in a golf outing, banquet and auction to generate 250,000 meals for Michiganders in need.

“This fundraiser helps us give back to kids across Michigan,” Fundraising Committee Chair Ryan Hendrickson states. “The ACF is extremely passionate about ending food insecurity in our communities. Knowing where your next meal comes from provides consistency which is paramount to all children so they can focus on learning, having fun and being kids.”

It’s currently estimated one in every five Michigan kids is food insecure – not knowing when or where they will get their next meal. Annually, the ACF offers $250,000 in grants to food banks, school backpack programs and community hunger relief efforts with a mission of ending hunger in Michigan.

The ACF is currently accepting grant applications from schools and community organizations offering hunger-relief services to Michigan kids. The next grant application deadline is August 7. A committee of Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan agents awards $30,000 to applicants every other month.

The ACF, whose mission is to end hunger in Michigan, is a donor-designated fund administered through the Michigan Foundation for Agriculture. The Michigan Foundation for Agriculture, a 501(c)(3) governed by Michigan Farm Bureau’s board of directors, positively contributes to the future of Michigan agriculture through leadership and educational programming. Through grant programs like Feeding the Future, Farm Bureau agents, clients and partners provide food and educational programs to Michigan residents struggling with hunger and aid the more than 3,000 hunger-relief agencies throughout the state.
