The Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan Agent Charitable Fund (ACF) plans to award $9,499 through ACF’s Double-Up Donation program in June. ACF is proud to come alongside six county Farm Bureaus and provide 1:1 matching funds to support their monetary donations and/or contributions to the following hunger-relief programs:
- Cass County Farm Bureau, supporting Action Ministries and Marcellus Food Pantry
- Gratiot County Farm Bureau, supporting the Greater Gratiot Hunger Network through United Way of Gratiot and Isabella Counties
- Montcalm County Farm Bureau, supporting the MCC Food Source at Montcalm County Community College
- St. Joseph County Farm Bureau, supporting the Centreville Public Schools Food Club
The following county Farm Bureaus will utilize Double-Up to facilitate hunger-relief programs or projects to feed their communities:
- Jackson County Farm Bureau, in partnership with the county’s Cornhole for Hunger event Aug. 14, will use proceeds and matching dollars to purchase and process fair animals and donate the protein to Jackson County food banks.
- Sanilac County Farm Bureau will use matching dollars to purchase and donate ground beef to participating pantries throughout Sanilac County's Freeze-Out Hunger Program.
Double-Up Donation requests are reviewed every other month, and the next submission deadline is Friday, July 31. For more information about the Double-Up Donation Program, please visit our website or contact ACF Manager Persis Sopariwala at [email protected].
ACF donation match through the Double-Up program can also count towards the county’s Harvest for All totals. Harvest for All is a year-long campaign, created by the American Farm Bureau Federation, that encourages Farm Bureau members across the country and in Michigan to work together to fight hunger in their communities. The district that contributes the most pounds of food, volunteer hours and dollars is recognized at the state level and given $1,000 to distribute to a hunger-relief organization of their choice.
The ACF, whose mission is to end hunger in Michigan, is a donor-designated fund administered through the Michigan Foundation for Agriculture. The Michigan Foundation for Agriculture, a 501(c)(3) governed by Michigan Farm Bureau’s board of directors, positively contributes to the future of Michigan agriculture through leadership and educational programming. Through donation match programs like Double-Up Donation, Farm Bureau agents, clients and partners provide food and educational programs to Michigan residents struggling with hunger and aid the more than 3,000 hunger-relief agencies throughout the state.
