Our Foundation. Our Future.
Agriculture does more than feed Michigan — it fuels our economy, supports our communities, and sustains our way of life.
But the future of agriculture is not guaranteed.
As the industry faces a growing generational gap and increasing public disconnect from farming, investing in the next generation of agricultural leaders, educators, and advocates has never been more important.
That's why the Michigan Foundation for Agriculture (MFA) has introduced a refreshed brand and renewed focus centered around a simple but powerful message:
Our Foundation. Our Future.
The new brand reflects the Foundation's role in helping ensure Michigan agriculture remains strong for generations to come by supporting educational and leadership programs that connect people to agriculture and prepare future leaders.
"The Michigan Foundation for Agriculture exists to ensure agriculture is not only strong today, but prepared for tomorrow," said Kristine Kuhnert, executive director of the Foundation. "By investing in education and leadership development, we are building understanding, cultivating future leaders, and strengthening the long-term future of Michigan agriculture. This refreshed brand more clearly reflects the impact of that work and our commitment to ensuring agriculture is understood, valued, and sustained for generations to come."
The Foundation supports programs that help people better understand agriculture while developing the leaders who will guide the industry into the future.
Through agricultural literacy initiatives, students gain hands-on experiences that connect them to where their food comes from and the important role agriculture plays in their daily lives. Programs such as FARM Science Labs and Vans, FARM Crates, Michigan Agriculture in the Classroom, and Promotion & Education help bridge the growing gap between consumers and agriculture.
The Foundation also invests in leadership development opportunities that prepare emerging agricultural leaders to serve their communities, advocate for the industry, and help shape the future of Michigan agriculture. Programs like ProFILE and Young Farmer leadership initiatives continue to develop the next generation of leaders across the state.
The yearly impact of this work is being felt:
- 85,000+ students are reached annually through agricultural education programs.
- 3,000+ teachers have received resources and support to bring agriculture into their classrooms.
- 400+ Young Farmers engaged through conferences, leadership development opportunities, and networking experiences that help prepare the next generation of agricultural leaders.
Together, these efforts help ensure agriculture remains understood, valued, and supported by future generations. The refreshed brand is more than a new look — it is a renewed commitment to the Foundation's mission of investing in people, strengthening communities, and securing the future of Michigan agriculture.
Because when we invest in education and leadership today, we help ensure Michigan agriculture continues to grow, thrive, and prosper tomorrow.
