Know a standout educator who’s hooked their students on agriculture? We want to hear about it!

Because Michigan Farm Bureau recognizes the importance of teaching agriculture education in local schools, every year we recognize a deserving teacher. Many Michigan educators incorporate agriculture and natural resources into their classroom curriculum. Our Educator of the Year Award is a great opportunity for county Farm Bureaus to recognize an outstanding local teacher for their efforts in agriculture education.

Ideal nominations include teachers who do an outstanding job integrating basic agricultural concepts into their lessons while meeting school curriculum objectives, or those who develop students' problem-solving skills by analyzing agricultural issues and information using creative teaching techniques.

Any K-12 educator is eligible, whether they’re an agriscience teacher or a general education teacher. Information on our past recipients and additional details about the application can be found online.

The winner of the Educator of the Year Award will receive recognition at the Michigan Farm Bureau Annual Meeting, a cash prize to continue their agricultural education activities, as well as a scholarship to attend the National Ag in the Classroom conference.

Award nominations are due Feb. 10, 2026 and can be completed online.
